Eligibility Requirements

  • Income Limit: As a single, your income should be below R92,520, and for married couples, the maximum gross income should be less than R185,040.
  • Resident: All applicants must have legal residency in the country, regardless of their status as South African citizens, permanent residents, or refugees.
  • Asset Limits: A single must not have assets in excess of R1,227,600 or R2,455,200 for married couples.

When Will Payments Be Made In January 2025

SASSA disburses its payments evenly for every first day of the month. Thus SASSA would commence its payments for January 2025 on Tuesday, January 2, 2025, to its beneficiaries. The grants are accessible through:

  • Bank Transfers: money directly into their accounts.
  • Post Office Collections: beneficiaries can go to collect payments at any designated branch of the Post Office.
  • Retailers: Approved retailers such as Shoprite and Pick n Pay can also be used by beneficiaries to collect their grants.

Amount Of Grants

In January 2025, the amount R2,090 will be disbursed through the SASSA Senior Grant monthly. Moreover, a further R20 bonus by anyone over 75 years is being accrued for these individuals. Thus, every senior citizen gets R2,110 during the month of January.
