SASSA Confirms Grant Payment Dates, Plan Ahead This Week!

SASSA Grant Payment Dates : The dates of grant payments have been officially confirmed by the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), thus providing a channel of income for millions of beneficiaries this week. Among them are grants that are very important for the survival of many South Africans, including the Older Persons Grant, the Disability Grant, the Children’s Grant, and the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) Grant. Payment Schedule For This Week

SASSA has outlined the following payment dates:  

  • Older Persons Grant : Payments will be starting from Friday, January 10, 2025, including all extension grants linked with any of these accounts.   
  • Disability Grant : Payments will start from Monday, January 13, 2025.  
  • Children’s Grants : Payments will begin Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

SASSA offers several secure platforms through which beneficiaries can access grant payments:  

  • SASSA Gold Card : To withdraw cash from any ATM or through retail partner outlets like Shoprite, Checkers, Pick n Pay or Boxer stores.  
  • Bank Transfers: Available to beneficiaries who would like to have grants deposited directly into personal bank accounts for convenience.  
  • Retail Partners : Cash can also be withdrawn or shopping done at the national retail partner.  
  • Remember: all the funds remain in your account until you withdraw them, so there is no need to rush to pay points on the first day.  

Important Tips For Beneficiaries

  • Plan Your Visit : Timing withdrawals well in advance can help avoid overcrowding in ATMs and retail outlets. 
  • Prioritize Security : Large denominations should not be withdrawn unless absolutely necessary for security. Only withdraw what you will need. 
  • Update Your Information : Make sure that all personal and banking information with SASSA is updated to avoid unnecessary delays. 

Changes In Grant Amounts

One of the latest changes has seen some beneficiaries receiving a slight return on the amount they receive. The increase is from October 2024, and it includes:  

  • Old Age Grant: R2,190 (for individuals under 75), R2,210 (for those over 75). 
  • Disability Grant: R2,190. 
  • Child Support Grant: R510. 
  • Care Dependency Grant: R2,190.
