In January 2025, the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) will pay grants early for older beneficiaries. Such an arrangement will allow older people to get the money well ahead of the new year to cover all their priority expenses at the beginning of the year. Is It Possible To Get Early Older Grants?
SASSA elderly grant, popularly known as Old Age pension, is an age-based grant for citizens of South Africa or permanent residents as well as refugees aged sixty years and over. No dual benefits: applicants must have been denied state-sponsored socials grants against their names. They are expected to earn and own below certain defined minimum levels.
Toward achieving the above, early payments will also be given by SASSA for that specific age in January 2025.
Disbursement Schedule For January 2025
To ensure that beneficiaries do not crowd the payment points and to make way for orderly payment processing, SASSA will introduce a staggered schedule for grant payments.
- 3 January 2025 (Wednesday): Commencement of Old Age Pension Grant payment processing.
- 4 January 2025 (Thursday): Amendment in grant payments for disability payments.
- 5 January 2025 (Friday): Child Support, Foster Care, Other Social Grants.
Beneficiaries are able to access those funds through SASSA cards, ATMs, or certain retail outlets such as Shoprite, Pick n Pay, and Boxer.
