The Canada Carbon Rebate, which was formerly called the Climate Action Incentive Payment, is an exemption for Canadian citizens from taxation in repaying their expenditures related to federal pollution pricing. For individuals and families qualifying under the rebate, they will receive payments quarterly, and the next one will be on January 15, 2025.
Payment Schedule And Amounts
The payments for the CCR are made quarterly in the year 2024-2025, which can be in April, July, October, and January. Hence, the due payment for January 15, 2025, concerns the last payment of this cycle. For example, rebates differ for each province and every household size. Evoking a family of four, it can ideally receive an amount extending as much as $1,800 in a year, of which here is how this is broken down:
- Alberta: $450 per quarter
- Ontario: $280 per quarter
- Saskatchewan: $376 per quarter
- Manitoba: $300 per quarter
- New Brunswick: $190 per quarter
- Nova Scotia: $206 per quarter
- Prince Edward Island: $220 per quarter
- Newfoundland and Labrador: $298 per quarter
All of these figures are federally guided and subject to change.
Eligibility Criteria
Criteria to be eligible for the CCR:
- Citizenship : Reside in Canada but must live in that province where the federal fuel charge applies; for example, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island or Newfoundland and Labrador.
- Age: Be at least 19 years old. Individuals younger than 19 may qualify if they have a spouse, common-law partner, or parents living with the child.

Rural Supplement
To take cognizance of the peculiar situations that rural residents face, the federal government has raised the rural supplement amount from 10% to 20% of the base amount. This is meant to provide better support for people in rural and small communities who require more energy and do not have much alternative means of transportation. Therefore, these persons should indicate whether they are rural when filing their tax returns to receive this added benefit.
How To Receive The Payment
The CCR Payments are administered by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). To claim a rebate:
- Pay Your Taxes: TV taxes are really helpful as it is the only way for the CRA to assess if you owe taxes or how much they must pay you.
- Direct Payment: Register for CRA direct pay and receive your payment automatically deposited into your bank account.
- Update Records: Keep your personal data with the CRA concerning your marital status and number of dependents up to date so that the calculation of payments is as accurate as possible.

The CCR is part of the bigger Canada program on reduction of our greenhouse gas emissions, which puts a price on carbon pollution and returns this money to Canadians.
