Reasons For Updating Your Bank Information
You need to change your bank account because you are not using it anymore something that has gone awry with your current account, either it has closed, or is inactive, or you would just like to have a different payment method, say: by means of your bank account rather than in cash.
Changing Your Banking Details
- Visit the Official SASSA website: To navigate you through the official SASSA site that is www.srd.sassa.gov.za. Also, use a secure, trusted device to access the platform.
- Log into Your Profile: Log into your profile using the ID number and the registered mobile number. An OTP, One-time password, will be sent to your phone for verification.
- Select the “Change Banking Details” Option: After logging in, find and click on “Change Banking Details.”
- Enter Your New Banking Information: Give the information of your new bank account. Double-check that the name on the account matches the varname on your SASSA profile to avoid possible issues with payments being delayed.
- Confirm and Submit ; After you have entered your new bank details, review the information carefully before submitting.
Important Notes:
- You can only use those bank accounts registered in your name. Third-party accounts are not allowed.
- The processing of changing your bank details may take a couple of days. Meanwhile, payments will continue through your previous method until the update has been completed.
Alternatives To Bank Payments
SASSA provides other payment alternatives, such as retail cash transfers through stores including Pick n Pay, Shoprite, and Boxer, if the person does not have a bank account.Keep your banking information current to ensure you do not experience any interruptions in receiving your R350 SRD grant.
