These payers demand that the 8th Pay Commission should be effective from January 1, 2026. In light of ongoing reports about the 8th Pay Commission, the All India State Government Employees Federation has called for the immediate formation of the Eighth Pay Commission. It requests the government to restore the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for employees and regularise contractual ones.
Federation Has Shown Enormous Discontentment
The employees federation has registered very significant discontent regarding non-sponsorship by the government in either forming the Eighth Pay Commission or restoring the OPS. The federation has decided to hold a nationwide protest for the New Year.
A Recent Report About 8th Pay Commission
As reported in the media, Subhash lamba National President of All India State Government Employees Federation has informed that a national executive meeting is going to be held in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh on December 28-29 this year. The report read, ‘A robust strategy will be developed pertaining to the protest during this meeting.’ According to Lamba, the report further states that besides the office bearers of the All India State Government Employees Federation, leaders and general secretaries of the organizations from all states would take part in this meeting.
The Union Finance Ministry recently clarified that currently, the government has not taken any proposal for the Eighth Pay Commission into consideration. In response to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State (Finance) Pankaj Choudhary said there are no currently-declared plans to create the Eighth Central Pay Commission.
